Lovers of non-mainstream cinema! The New Art Film Festival presents to you the best and most interesting locally-made cinema today, Sunday, April 13, 2014, from 5 p.m. to Midnight at the Art Theater Co-op, 126 W. Church St., Champaign, Illinois, USA! We’ve been looking forward to this show all year and we hope you have as well.

Be sure to look around our Web site one last time for all the pertinent details about your 2014 NAFF. We expect many creators to be with us and we’ll do our best to point them out so you can meet-and-greet in between film blocks. As well, we’ve been told Paul Fleschner, co-director of THE DRUNK, will be coming down from Chicago to help introduce his feature film. Please welcome him if you get the chance!

Sadly, news media in the Champaign-Urbana area has not given us much notice in the past two weeks other than a few token mentions, but we’ll always have Smile Politely. (In fact, our thumbnail comes from a prior SP article. The photograph is of your humble program director, Jason Pankoke, taken by Sean O’Connor somewhere in downtown Urbana.) Thanks to writer Thom Schnarre and editor Patrick Singer for arranging to cover the NAFF! Their piece went live earlier this week.

Once you experience the fifth New Art Film Festival in person, we hope you will share your impressions and images with us. We know what we think about Champaign’s premier independent cinema event and the artistic culture it supports, but, what about you?

Marshaling forces,

Jason Pankoke
