The New Art Film Festival (NAFF) presents a unique collection of Illinois-produced independent films every year in the twin college towns of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, home to the University of Illinois. The NAFF will return for its ninth year to The Art Theater in downtown Champaign on Tuesday, October 30, 2018!

The NAFF treats its audiences to a mix of narratives, documentaries, experimental pieces, music videos, and exclusive previews, all drawn from a homegrown film culture that has been on the rise in Champaign-Urbana and other nearby cities. Area filmmakers, including those who live and create in Decatur, Springfield, Danville, Carbondale, Bloomington-Normal, and other downstate locations, are invited to submit their work. We’ll even consider material made in Chicago and the suburbs! Every year, we hope to foster inspiration and collaboration in media-savvy artists, who just so happen to be our friends and neighbors, with the program that we curate.

In 2018, the submission deadline is Friday, August 31, 2018, and the program will be announced on or around Monday, October 1, 2018, approximately four weeks before show time! Please look here on this page for submission instructions, which are revised annually.

Our current staff includes program director Jason Pankoke of C-U Confidential and Micro-Film, promotional designers Lisa and Jason Cerezo of ThirdSide, and media assets manager Luke Boyce of Shatterglass Studios, with an invaluable assist from special events and outreach coordinator Jessie Seitz and the rest of the staff at the Art.

We’ll see you at our movies on October 30!
